About The Friendly Nest

The Friendly Nest is a constructivist early learning centre inspired by the Waldorf philosophy of learning. Our mission is to return the focus on developing the whole child to modern day education systems. We prioritize social-emotional development and attachment parenting philosophies.

Our environment has been designed to mimic the coziness of a home.  Pictures of our children and families are placed strategically around the classrooms. Colours are neutral to promote a sense of calm. The sun is our main light source throughout the day. Wooden materials fill the classrooms to encourage social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Our goal is to create a comfortable space for our children to grow, as their minds will flourish when they’re comfortable.

Teachers support children by creating engaging and varied environments that educate the whole child. We observe children's play and look for opportunities to deepen their understanding and develop a sense of belonging and well-being, as well as the confidence to express themselves and the desire to engage in our processes.

We believe that education for the early years should focus on developing children who are confident, in tune with their emotions and who care about their communities. As we allow time for children to grow a strong foundation, we will see the rest unfold.
